How much DUST a NIGHT balance generates once its stake key is registered
Mainnet ledger parameters: 8,267 SPECK per STAR per second, capped at 5 DUST per NIGHT (1 NIGHT = 10⁶ STAR, 1 DUST = 10¹⁵ SPECK). DUST cannot be transferred or bought; it pays Midnight fees and decays at the same rate once the backing NIGHT moves.

NIGHT, DUST and Cardano
NIGHT is the capital token; DUST is the shielded, non-transferable resource that pays Midnight fees. Holding NIGHT generates DUST continuously, like a battery recharging.
NIGHT that stays on Cardano can generate DUST too: a stake key registers a Midnight DUST address at the mapping validator (one transaction with a ~1.59 ADA deposit and an auth NFT). Midnight nodes observe Cardano and credit DUST for the NIGHT held by that stake key after about 12 hours.
